Mega-Mall Won't be Open for 2014 Super Bowl, Report Says

Lawsuit filed by Jets and Giants could be cause for latest delay in Meadowlands project, according to report.

The massive American Dream mall in the Meadowlands will not be ready in time for the 2014 Super Bowl being held at nearby MetLIfe Stadium, WYNC.org reported.

According to the report, sources said the project "won't be ready" in time despite Governor Christie's claim in 2010 that the mall, once called Xanadu, would be open for the game.

American Dream was missing from a list of Super Bowl events announced last week by the Christie Administration.

NJ.com reported one possible cause for the latest delay could be a lawsuit filed by the Giants and Jets seeking to keep the mall closed on game days.

Construction began in 2004, but was halted in 2009 before current owner Triple Five took over the troubled project. An indoor ice rink, water park and miniature golf are among some of the planned attractions at American Dream.

Check for the kickbacks and the legacies on this one as this project should have been dead years ago.

It's a shame it won't be opened in time. This may have been NJ's only shot at getting some substantial tourist revenue since the FanFest events have been granted to NY! Thanks a bunch, NFL commission!

Might as well be called the lost mall of Atlantis. Like the island, at first it was taken very seriously, but as the story goes, one night it just slipped into the ocean and was lost in the sea.
Today Alantis, like Xanadu ( now called the American Dream Mall ) is occasionally resurrected in comic books, science fiction films and movies, or newspapers. It reminds us of a time when Herocrates ( democrats) would give speeches demanding that the political giants "stop their quarreling".
After years of 'lack of success' Hermocrates fell out of power, and was eventually was killed off in a street fight after a failed coup in 407 B.C. Best known for his effort at imperialist expansion, the island of Atlantis was never found but it still excites the imagination and hearts of children who follow Yu-Gi-Oh !!!

Long Island has their Shoreham Nuke Plant, NJ has his mess. And the people winds up paying for it all.

Wasnt it called Meadowlands SPORTS complex? Why do we need another mall in Bergen county? Is it because all the white people go to the Giants game at Giants stadium and the element of NJ can go next door to the new cool mall. Wow Way to go Mcgreevy and Corzine, take another bribe and ruin something else in NJ.

Perhaps the Alexander's mural should be erected here. It is just ugly enough to fit right in.
