The past week has been no kinder to New Jersey residents suffering from the sniffles, cough and chills of the flu, state officials say, and has led to the death of a fourth child in the state, according to an NJ.com report.
A 12-year-old Bergen County girl died earlier this month, Dawn Thomas, a state Health Department spokeswoman said in the report. The girl had underlying health conditions.
Her name and hometown were not released.
The current flu season continues to be one of the worst flu seasons in recent history, state Health Department officials say.
The state Department of Health has added a Find a Flu Shot Locator to its website. Call ahead to make sure supplies haven't run out first.

I think it is misleading to suggest that the cause of death is flu when someone had underlying conditions that are not mentioned. This heightens the fear among people. The best prevention for flu is for people to stay home, rest and take plenty of fluids. Instead, people are told to flock to doctors offices and get flu shots which further spreads the flu virus and increases the risk for the most vulnerable among us - the elderly, young people and those with depressed immune systems. We need policies that support workers (especially working parents) to stay home when they are sick or need to take care of children who are sick.

Thank you Lynn for keeping a level head about this subject. Besides staying home these people won't interfere with real medical issues liking asking your doctor if Xanax is good for you.
