Bill Clinton Endorses Pascrell for Congress
Pascrell says he is running to stop Tea Party.
Former President Bill Clinton has endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell over fellow Democrat Rep. Steve Rothman for congress in the 9th District.
"Bill helped write President Obama’s health care law, he’s a leader protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare, and he never stops fighting for the middle class,” Clinton said in a statement. “Nothing is more important to Bill than creating jobs in New Jersey. I saw that in the eight years we worked together to build unprecedented prosperity for America.”
“I am honored to have the support of Bill Clinton,” Pascrell said in a statement."Fighting side by side with President Clinton, our nation achieved tremendous prosperity and a balanced budget.”
Pascrell took aim the Tea Party and Former President George Bush.
“Today, the Republicans are promoting the same George Bush policies that ended President Clinton’s era of prosperity – special interest tax breaks, tax cuts for the wealthy, cuts in education and job training, all leading to record deficits,” the congressman said. “Those policies failed, but the Tea Party Republicans want to bring them all back and that’s why I’m running, to stop the Tea Party.”
Rothman, a former Englewood mayor, campaigned for President Obama in 2008, while Pascrell supported then-challenger Hillary Clinton.
The two congressmen have been engaged in a bitter inter-party fight after redistricting broke apart the 9th District. Teaneck was split, with most of the township moved in the Republican-leaning 5th District.

Duhhhh. Of course Bill Clinton endorsed Pascrell. Rothman was for Obama early rather than endorsing Hillary. If you believe all the reasons given by President Clinton for endorsing Pascrell, I have a bridge just perfect for you.

I'm not a democrat, but if Pascrell beats the Republican challenger, I can live with his policies, he's moderate and sensible. Rothman is trying to appeal to the far left but he is a limousine liberal that pretends to be for the working man....a grade A phony.
Kudos to Bill Clinton

I don't really like Rothman either, hes too fake, and to me it seems like he doesn't really care about anything.

I read that Rothman had voted for impeachment during Clinton's presidency. If true, this endorsement is not so surprising

It's not a surprising endorsement at all. Several people and organizations that usually wouldn't get involved with a primary election are coming out strongly for Pascrell. Veteran's groups, labor unions, cops, firefighters, and several noteworthy members of Congress. It has to mean something that so many people are making an exception for Pascrell.

I'm with Bill (Clinton) and Bill (Pascrell). The literature from FAT Steve Rothman is full of lies--he supported the Iraq war, a follower, not a leader, and so afraid he wouldn't make a living if we taxpayers didn't support him that he didn't have the guts/balls to take on Garrett.

I want somebody who will fight for Notth Jersey. Pascrell is a fighter and as Bill Clinton said "if you were in a foxhole, he is the guy you want with you". As a Democrat i would never vote for someone who didn't want to fight a Republican to save a much needed seat in Congress to run against another Democrat.
