One person was injured when the car they were in struck a utility pole on Winthrop Road Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The crash occurred at the corner of Winthrop Road and Rugby Road, splitting a pole and leaving an attached transformer leaning over the street. The roadway remained closed late Tuesday and a Public Service Electric and Gas crew was expected to replace the pole overnight.
The injury was not believed to be serious and there were no reports of power outages in the area.

Unless the person had to swerve to avoid hitting a person or the brake pedal fell off their car, that sort of accident should deserve a ticket. It would be good to know if these type of accidents were Cell phone distractions.
