Celebrity Rabbi, Clinton-backed Congressman to Debate in Tenafly
Boteach, Pascrell to face off in first 9th district debate.
UPDATE: Israel, Tax Policy at Issue in Boteach, Pascrell Debate
Two candidates vying for the redrawn 9th congressional district will meet in their first debate Sunday at a Tenafly temple.
Englewood Republican Rabbi Shumley Boteach, the author of “Kosher Sex” and former spiritual advisor to Michael Jackson, is challenging incumbent Democrat Bill Pascrell. Boteach has called for marriage counseling to be made tax deductible and is supported by casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.
Pascrell, who was endorsed by former President Bill Clinton, beat fellow Democrat Steve Rothman in a bitter primary battle for the redrawn district. A former Paterson mayor, Pascrell was first elected to congress in 1996.
Sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey Jewish Community Relations Council and The Jewish Standard of Teaneck, the debate will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Temple Sinai of Bergen County, One Engle Street.

Get out there and vote for Pascrell, if you're in the new 9th! And what kind of a choice do the other Teaneck voters have? Get rid of Garrett and substitute ?????.

Some choice Diane. Some choice. If you're going to vote for the lesser of two evils you have to work hard to define evil. And we're still left with some level of evil. YIKES!

Rabbi Boteach is a wonderful man, he has ETHICS which Pascrell does not, just the same old, same old,TAX & SPEND also he does not believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a women, supports gay marriage along with the rest of his party. I have heard Rabbi Bopteach speak and he KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, unlike Pascrell who just repeats the talking points he has been given by his party-VOTE FOR RABBI BOTEACH

Ya, its so ethical to declare your house tax exempt for a BS reason. James, what have gay people done to you? Their marriages are none of your concern, you bigot.

Bet he'll be the first to complain if there is a pothole on his street. Let other's pay for it though. Spend without taxing. We want services but don't want to pay for them. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Why is it this story talks about the rabbi's background, but doesn't mention anything substantial about Pascrell? How is this a "celebrity rabbi" when 99% of the country has never heard of him?

That is what the press calls him and he embraces the moniker. Again he became famous or infamous by serving as a " spiritual advisor" to Michael Jackson.
