Christie Picks Teaneck Councilman for Israel Commission

Promoting educational exchanges and trade between New Jersey and Israel among commission's goals.

 

Governor Christie has named a Teaneck councilman to the state's Israel commission and reappointed four other township residents to the board.

Councilman Yitz Stern was named to the commission, Christie's office announced. The governor also reappointed Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg as one of four senate representatives on the commission. 

Formed in 1989, the New Jersey-Israel Commission aims to promote trade, cultural, business and education exchanges between the Garden State and Israel. 

Other residents reappointed to the commission were: 

 - Steven Goldstein

 - Stanley Stone

 - Fred Zemel

Yitz and Loretta: My congratulations as well. Like being on the Council or in the NJ State Senate, serving on the NJ-Israel Commission may require more effort than you expect but less than you are capable of. And don't forget that NJ and Israel are similar in size and population.
