Discussion on Charter Schools Tuesday Night
Friends of the Teaneck Community Charter School to hold forum
The Friends of the Teaneck Community Charter School will hold a public forum Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. to discuss charter schools, the group said in a news release.
Topics will include intent of the original legislation, abuse of current law and the rise of “boutique” charters, lack of a clear review process with an objective assessment rubric, virtual education and existing regulation and need for legislative reform, the release said.
The event will take place at the Teaneck Community Charter School, 563 Chestnut Avenue.
"Much of the current controversy in Teaneck and beyond stems from a lack of understanding of the charter movement and manipulation by some with vested interests to co-opt the movement," the release said.
The forum will be facilitated by Rex Shaw, former director of the TCCS.
