Family Makes Donation to Teaneck Schools
More than 400 Holocaust-related works given to Teaneck school district.
The following was provided by the Teaneck Public School District:
Superintendent of Teaneck Schools Barbara Pinsak, with members of the Teaneck Board of Education at a recent board meeting formally thanked Teaneck residents Lynda and Nina Ores for their gift to the Teaneck Schools.
The Ores family generously donated over 400 Holocaust-related volumes from the collection of their husband and father, the late Dr. Richard Ores, a Holocaust survivor who was liberated from Dachau in 1945. His collection is valued at over $5000. It will be prominently displayed along with a previously donated collection of Holocaust books in the Library Media Center on the second floor of Teaneck High School.

What a wonderful donation - any chance they can be digitally scanned, so everyone can see them?

Is this collection only "prominently displayed"? I would hope there would be programs USING them, either in the HS or in the community as a whole!

Diane, using them may damage them. Keith Kaplan's idea to digitally scan them would solve this possible problem and they can be shared with everyone not just Teaneck residents.

They should be scanned and digitally stored on the INTERNET somewhere for all to read. Displaying them in a glass book shelf is doing a disservice to such a noble donation.

They're available for the students and the community to read. I think by prominently displayed they mean that they'll have their own shelf.
