Bogota police charged a 24-year-old Teaneck man after officers traced a trail of fuel from a hit-and-run crash to the man's home early Sunday, northjersey.com reported. 

Kenneth Shaw allegedly hit a pole at East Fort Lee Road and Palisade Avenue around 3 a.m., but fled the scene, the report said. Officers followed the leaking fuel to Beech Street in Teaneck where Shaw's car was found parked outside his home. 

Police said Shaw's blood alcohol level came in at 0.18, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to the report. Shaw was charged with careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.
