Gussen Sees Congressional Win in Bergen Support [POLL]

Teaneck candidate concedes he is unlikely to beat Republican Rep. Scott Garrett in rural county.

Teaneck Deputy Mayor Adam Gussen told Sussex County Democrats he is unlikely to beat Wantage Republican Rep. Scott Garrett in the rural county, but could win the 5th district congressional race with support from Bergen votes, the New Jersey Herald reported.

Redistricting shifted most of Teaneck and other Democratic strongholds, including Hackensack, to Garrett’s Republican-leaning 5th district.

The possibly of Garrett becoming House Budget Committee chair under a Mitt Romney presidency could also fuel Democratic votes, Gussen said in the report.

Gussen faces Garrett’s nearly $2 million campaign war chest, including backing from major national donors, according to reports.

Gussen couldn't even win his own town in the primary. This self serving blowhard doesn't have a shot in hell

I am afraid "self-serving blowhard" applies to many elected officials nationally and in NJ. Look who is giving the keynote speech at the Republican National Convention - NJ's own Governor, Chris Christy. I expect Gussen will do more for Teaneck/Bergen County than Garrett will. He can tamp down some of the Republican/Garrett rhetoric that doesn't fit Teaneck values. I hope Gussen turns out to be like our Rep. Steve Rothman. I'll miss ya, Steve.

I've also spoken to Adam Gussen and found him to be knowledgeable about the issues, and intelligent. I'm a Democrat and I'll vote for him. So much better than voting for Scott Garrett, who is just wrong on so many issues.

So what are Teaneck values? High taxes and no services? I like how it says with votes he can win isn't that true of every election?

The only reason why Gussen would have any hope in Bergen is because the Bergen Republicans under Donovan and blowhard Hermansen are a disgrace to the county and the Republican party.Otherwise Gussen is an Obama failure and the unemployed people in Teaneck who's homes are being foreclosed on know it.

Explain how a local town deputy mayor has anything more to do with Obama than yourself?

This entire election is about character. I have found Mr. Gussen to be very responsive to the needs of his constituents and clearly understands his role of being an employee of those that elect him. As for the incumbent, his record on women's issues and his support of the current republican leadership should give one pause as to who he feels he answers to....
