A 50-year-old bus company maintenance worker was charged Thursday after investigators learned he pulled a teenage girl onto a school bus he was driving in Bogota, authorities said.

The victim and her mother told Bogota police that a man, identified as Darren Clark, rode up to the 15-year-old girl as she walked alone near River Road and Elm Avenue around 6 p.m. Wednesday, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a news release. Clark allegedly struck up a conversation with the girl before hugging her and pulling her onboard the empty bus.

Clark kept talking to the girl during the brief ride before she safely left the bus, according to the prosecutor.

Molinelli said Clark was driving the bus for maintenance as part of his job with Hackensack-based Morgan Educational Services Inc.   

Bogota police alerted the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit, leading to charges on child endangerment and luring. Clark, of Hackensack, was ordered held on $75,000 bail, with no ten percent option.
