How Does Crime in Teaneck Compare to Neighboring Towns?

NJ Spotlight has created an interactive map using the recently released 2011 Uniform Crime Report that plots the total crime rate per 1,000 people for seven index crimes (four violent -- murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault -- and three non-violent -- burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft).

Across New Jersey
Crime in New Jersey rose by 3 percent in 2011, with the increase attributed to a jump in non-violent crimes. Violent crimes decreased slightly. The number of burglaries across the state reached a high not seen since 2003. For more on the state Uniform Crime Report, click here.

I don't know what's "interactive" about the map. The statistics don't disappear so you can see behind it, the towns don't ID themselves when you click on them!
However, Teaneck has done quite well this year, improving on all statistics (maybe because of the increase in police?) and is smack in the middle as far as Bergen County Towns. But of course that massacre in Conn. was in a "green" town!

The increase in police may or may not have an impact on crime. I'd like to see a demographic image in terms of population age in Teaneck for both years. It is known that criminals age out of crime as they mature.
