New York City Man Charged in Fatal Teaneck Road Hit-and-Run

Investigators still searching for van involved in the accident, prosecutor says.

A New York City man who fatally struck a pedestrian as she crossed Teaneck Road last month, then fled the scene, surrendered to police Thursday morning, authorities said.

Todd Jackman, 52, turned himself in to Teaneck Police after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a statement.

, of Englewood, who was found dead in the southbound lanes of Teaneck Road, near Selvage Avenue, authorities said.

In August, the prosecutor's office said investigators believed Brown was first struck by a vehicle going north on Teaneck Road, then thrown into the southbound lanes and hit again. Authorities did not immediately say if others were still being sought.

In a statement, Molinelli said Jackman was driving a 1992 Chevrolet van and “initially struck the victim” as she crossed Teaneck Road.

In an effort to conceal the crime, Jackman repaired the van the next day, Molinelli said.

The two-tone brown van with Pennsylvania license plates has not been found and Molinelli urged anyone with information to call police.  

Jackman was being held at the Bergen County Jail Thursday on $100,000 bail, with no ten percent option. He is scheduled to appear in Teaneck Municipal Court on Monday to face a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, Molinelli said.
