Police Release Sketch in Hackensack Luring Attempt

Link between some recent luring attempts has not been ruled out.

Hackensack police have released a composite sketch of a man they say tried to lure an 11-year-old boy into a car last week.

The man reportedly approached the child as he walked to school near Union and Sussex Streets and asked where a Costo store was located, NJ.com reported. When the boy said he didn’t know, the man continued talking to him before asking him to get in his Jeep Wrangler.

As many as five luring attempts have been reported in the area last week. In Oradell, police were investigating a report of an older white male with gray, balding hair, wearing a button-down shirt and black pants who approached two children. A sketch released by police in a Maywood incident shows a man with facial hair and what is described as salt and pepper-colored hair.

While the descriptions differ, authorities have said they cannot rule out the possibility that one person is behind the incidents.
