Second Town-Wide Garage Sale Planned

Sale expanded to two days.

Teaneck will host another town-wide garage in October after officials hailed the town’s first sale as a success.

The township sale will be held Oct. 13-14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rain dates are set for Oct. 20-21.

Residents can sign up to sell items from their homes at www.teanecknj.gov/residents. Sign up is free and no permits are required, the township said. Anyone who registers by 5 p.m. Oct. 9 will have their sale listed on the town website.

The first sale, held for one day in August, attracted more than 150 sellers.

For more information, contact Executive Assistant Issa Abbasi at 201-837-1600 ext. 1003 or iabbasi@teanecknj.gov.

What about having a garage sale to benefit the town, yes, the township, by having a place where residents could contribute belongings on which they don't need to make personal money?

In other words, donate to Teaneck? I doubt there would be many who would give up their time to go through all of their belongings, organize it and bring it down to a designated spot where you'll most likely be met with an attitude for not boxing it correctly. lol

Sorry, it sounds like a noble idea, but the taxes are high enough and we don't even get our garbage picked up. Any extra cash I can get these days I'm putting in my pocket!

Or maybe if you have it, donate it to our students who have to ask for money outside every Dunkin' Donuts and bagel store in town because the budget for their activity has been cut.

I have seen this tried with voluntary organizations and it does not work as people just dump trash that cannot be sold. The town would then be stuck with a cleanup.

Marcia I suggest you try Ebay, Craig's list and if those do not work you can always donate to a thrift shop and get a tax write off.

Instead of begging for money... the students should organize things like car washes, bake sale.... etc..... this way they will learn the value of the dollar and NOT to beg....
I don't like to see young people begging...... They should do something to earn money..... at least that was taught to us when we were growing up.....

I don't have any warm feeling for the town...... why should I give my money to a town that wastes money and tax us without a thought.......
