Weapon allegedly had defaced serial number, according to report.
A 32-year-old Teaneck man found asleep in a car at a Little Ferry convenience store parking lot was arrested on weapons charges Tuesday after officers found a semiautomatic handgun in the car, northjersey.com reported.
Anthony Hayer faces charges of drunken driving, possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun and possession of a defaced firearm, the report said. The handgun reportedly had its serial number defaced.
Hayer was found at the Liberty Street 7-Eleven at 3:22 a.m. sleeping with the car in drive and his foot on the brake, Little Ferry Police Chief Ralph Verdi said, according to the report.
Police say Hayer had a holster on his waistband and a search turned up the .25 caliber handgun, the report said.
Records show he was being held Tuesday night at the Bergen County Jail on $60,000 bail.
