Closures Planned for State Street Repaving
More angle parking spaces coming to State Street.
State Street will be subject to intermittent closures over three days later this month as part of a project to repave the Teaneck thoroughfare, the township announced Wednesday.
The roadway will close at 7 a.m. Oct. 24 as crews begin milling work, followed by paving and line striping through 6 p.m. Oct. 26, according to a township statement. Residents were advised to plan alternate routes but the roadway will reopen as each phase of the project is completed.
Closures will depend on weather and be in place from the State Street Bridge to Teaneck Road, the statement said. Restrictions at the parking lot on State Street, near Terrace Circle, have been lifted during the work.
As part of the project, the south side of State Street will be converted to angle parking, Township Manager William Broughton said. The change will add about seven parking spaces.
“It’s for the benefit of the residents,” Broughton said.
The $285,000 project is funded using a community development grant. A project is already underway on Lozier Place to upgrade area sewer systems, and crews have begun work to replace curbs and handicapped ramps in the area.
