Teaneck Double Murder Trial Set to Open
A Queens man is accused of gunning down two men on a street in Teaneck nearly three years ago.
Opening arguments in the trial of a New York City lounge owner accused of killing two men on Oakdene Avenue in Teaneck are set to begin Tuesday in Superior Court in Hackensack, northjersey.com reported.
Queens nightclub owner Nicholas Kiriakakis, 28, is charged with fatally shooting Michael Mirasola and Jonathan Beneduce Feb. 18, 2010 in what prosecutors have called drug-related killings.
Mirasola and Beneduce drove to Teaneck in a 2007 Ford Explorer as Kiriakakis followed, prosecutors have said. He allegedly shot his two friends and fled.
The purpose of the trip was “believed to be related to an illegal narcotic transaction,” prosecutor’s said in statement issued after the slayings.
Kiriakakis was freed on $2 million bail and faces charges including two counts of murder, jail records show.
