Teaneck Police, TVAC Praised for Special Delivery

A police officer and members of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps were cheered at Tuesday’s council meeting for their quick action in delivering a baby girl in June.

At around 4 a.m. on June 12, a call came in for a woman in labor, reports said. Police Officer Steve Ramirez found the woman going into labor and directed her to lie on the floor to deliver baby Mackenzie. TVAC lieutenants Andrew Rosler and Eli Weingast, along with members Chaim Miller and CJ Levin were quickly on the scene to care for the mother.

The responders were reunited with baby Mackenzie and her thankful parents Tuesday when they received official congratulations from the town council.

“If Officer Ramirez would have stumbled and not ran through the house I would have been catching the baby,” Mackenzie’s father said.

Councilman Yitz Stern credited the team with “an outstanding job,” and presented the group with stork pins for their uniforms.
