Teaneck Schools to Reopen Wednesday
Class planned during days set aside for NJEA convention, according to the district.
Teaneck Public Schools will reopen Wednesday and hold classes during days normally off for teachers convention, the district announced Sunday.
Administrators and some staffers will work at Teaneck High School Monday, according to the school district. Schools were already set to be closed Tuesday for election day.
The New Jersey Education Association opted to cancel its annual convention in Atlantic City set for Nov. 8 - 9 because of Sandy. Gov. Chris Christie had urged schools to open during days regularly set aside for the convention.
The district issued the following statement on its website:
School will be closed on Monday, November 5th. School will resume on Wednesday, November 7th, and WILL BE in session Thursday, November 8th, and Friday, November 9th. All administrators and twelve-month employees will work on Monday, November 5th at Teaneck High School and should report by 9:00 am.
Tuesday is election day and school will not be in session, as planned. Teachers will receive information about Tuesday's professional development day via phone call and email to be sent out on Monday, November 5th. The professional development day will be from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
