Eighteen-year-old Jennifer Chan, a Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps member, has been named a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search for her study of a breast cancer drug, northjersey.com reported. 

Chan, a Bergen County Academies senior from Upper Saddle River, was one of 40 finalists selected from more than 1,700 applications. 

Her project focused on Tamoxifen and the ways the drug works in a cell, among other areas, the report said. 

She will present her research in Washington D.C. before throngs of experts. 

Chan said she became interested in cancer research after her father died of prostate cancer, according to the report.
