UPDATE: Contractor Causes Power Outage

PSE&G reported outages in Teaneck Thursday morning.

An outside contractor who dug into a cable caused a power outage in Teaneck Thursday morning, a utility company spokeswoman said.

The outage knocked out power to 602 customers around 10:15 a.m., according to spokeswoman Annette Hicks. The digging happened near Overpeck Park on Fort Lee Road and customers were out for about 25 minutes.

The work was not related to PSE&G's infrastructure upgrades around Teaneck, Hicks said.

I guess it's unknown yet as to why power was lost. Hope all is well and no one is in harms way for all those who lost power in this heat.

The Township is getting emergency generators - perhaps all the residents should as well. This is becoming an all to popular occurrence. And the communication from PSE&G is quite frankly, deplorable.

I've lost power twice in the last 2 1/2 years and both times it was for very unusual weather conditions; one, a nor'easter and two, an exceptionally early snowfall. A far more common occurrence in Teaneck is the lack of minutes of our Council meetings.

So if PATCH can send me an email saying there is a power outage then WHY cant PSEG do that? The communication is really outdated its amazing for a major corporation.
