Woman, Child Unhurt After Car Partially Submerged Off I-95

Car ended up in marshy area off I-95, state police say.

A woman from Fort Lee and her 4-year-old son escaped injury after the car she was driving careened off an I-95 ramp in Teaneck, leaving it partially submerged in a marshy area, state police said.

The 65-year-old woman's Subaru Forester crashed through a fence and landed in Overpeck Creek off the highway's northbound lanes around 5 p.m., according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman.

Two Leonia police officers, Frank Rocco and Michael Jennings, went into the water and brought the mother and child to safety, police reported.
