'The Bing' Gets Its Own Reality Show

Reality show "The Real Girls of the Bada Bing" features Satin Dolls, the Lodi club where scenes were filmed for The Sopranos. CAUTION: ADULT LANGUAGE AND SCENES IN VIDEO

A new reality show in development features Bergen County's Satin Dolls, the gentlemen's club best known as the fictional "Bada Bing!" from The Sopranos. Tom Murro, a celebrity journalist and the show's executive producer, said it's like a mix between Jersey Shore, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Sopranos. "It's going to be awesome," Murro said. "There's a lot more swearing and violence. No table flipping, though." Satin Dolls, the real club where scenes from The Sopranos were filmed, is located on Route 17 in Lodi. The show takes a look at the drama in the lives of the club's dancers — one is paying her way through college, another struggles with self-esteem — and they all fight with each other over tips. 'Harlem Shake' Hits Teaneck High School [VIDEO]

Online dance craze performed on the steps of Teaneck High School

The "Harlem Shake," a new online dance craze sweeping across the Internet, has reached the steps of Teaneck High School.  A group of unidentified dancers performed their version of the fad outside the school in a YouTube video uploaded Feb. 24. Click above to watch the brief clip.  Know of any other Teaneck-themed "Harlem Shake" videos? Share them in the comments section below.  The video is one of tens of thousands like it to be uploaded to YouTube in recent weeks. The staff of Anderson Cooper "horrified" the news anchor and daytime TV host with their rendition. Jack Antonoff, Bergen County Native, Wins Grammy

Fun. won the Grammy for "song of the year" for their hit "We Are Young."

New Milford native Jack Antonoff got some major recognition with his band Fun. when they won the Grammy for song of the year Sunday, according to a report on NorthJersey.com. Fun. won the Grammy for their hit song We Are Young, which peaked at number one on the "Billboard Hot 100" list and has been featured on both the popular T.V. show Glee and a Chevy Super Bowl commercial. The band wasnominated for a total of six different awards. Antonoff is current Woodcliff Lake resident who previously lived in New Milford and attended Solomon Schechter and public schools, according to the NorthJersey.com report. He got his start in punk bands playing in spots like the Wayne Firehouse and Teaneck American Legion. He joined singer Nate Ruess and …

Donald Byrd, Teaneck Jazz Pioneer, Dies at 80

Longtime township resident was advocate for music education

Teaneck resident Donald Byrd, an innovative jazz trumpeter who worked with scores of artists, died Feb. 4 in Delaware, the Associated Press reported Monday.  Byrd, a Detroit-native, was a longtime township resident, the report said.  "A sideman for many other jazz musicians of his generation, Byrd was best known as one of the only bebop jazz musicians who successfully pioneered the funk and soul genres while simultaneously remaining a jazz artist," an obituary posted on the Haley Funeral Directors website said.  He played with Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Max Roach, Thelonious Monk and Herbie Hancock, according to the obituary. Byrd earned a law degree and a doctorate, and was an advocate for music education, according to a New York Times…

Theater Company Offering Scholarship to Bergen's Student Performers

Theater company will award a $1,000 cash scholarship to one high school senior planning to major in the arts.

A Fair Lawn based theater company is now accepting scholarship applications from Bergen County high school seniors interested in pursuing their college degree in the arts. Skyline Theatre Company has for the past five years awarded the $1,000 cash scholarship to one senior planning to major in theater, television, film, or communications. “They need to tell us why their passionate about continuing their education in the arts,” said Sam Scalamoni, Skyline’s artistic director. The scholarship committee, he says, will consider academics and extracurricular activities, but is focused mainly on awarding the scholarship to a student who, through their essay, demonstrates a clear motivation to continue in an area of the performing arts. New Live Music Venue Debuts in Teaneck [VIDEO]

The "Ethical Brew" venue aims to highlight indie and folk artists while fundraising for various causes

One year ago this month, the cast of the hit television show “Glee” performed “We Are Young,” a triumphant duet by the then-widely unknown New York indie-pop trio Fun. and rhythm-and-blues singer Janelle Monáe. Fast forward to this December.
