DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, June 30 at the historic Evergreen Cabin on Ever
 green Place in Teaneck\, the Bah&aacute\;&rsquo\;&iacute\; Community of 
 Teaneck is holding its annual unity picnic. This year is the 100th anniv
 ersary of the visit of &lsquo\;Abdu&rsquo\;l-Bah&aacute\;\, the son of t
 he Founder of the Bah&aacute\;&rsquo\;&iacute\; Faith who in1912\, trave
 led from then Palestine to visit America after a lifetime of imprisonmen
 t and persecution for his religious beliefs.\nHis journey in North Ameri
 ca lasted 239 days\, including ten days in Canada\, during which He trav
 eled to important cities from the east to the west coast and met with pe
 ople of diverse backgrounds and interests. When asked why he had underta
 ken the journey to America\, &lsquo\;Abdu'l-Bah&aacute\; stated\, "&hell
 ip\;I have come to America to raise the standard of universal peace and 
 to bring unity among mankind&hellip\;"\nHe addressed many religious grou
 ps and organizations such as the NAACP\, the Theosophists\, as well as a
 udiences at Columbia\, Howard and Stanford Universities. He also met wit
 h leaders of the day\, including President Theodore Roosevelt and Alexan
 der Graham Bell. He visited the poor and downtrodden\, proclaimed the eq
 uality of men and women\, and he championed the cause of racial unity.\n
 On June 29\, 1912\, &lsquo\;Abdu&rsquo\;l-Bah&aacute\; invited the Bah&a
 acute\;&rsquo\;&iacute\;s of New York and the surrounding areas to a uni
 ty feast to express his gratitude for all they had done on his behalf du
 ring his visit to the West. This gathering of appoximately 350 people of
  diverse backgrounds was held in Teaneck (West Englewood) at the Bah&aac
 ute\;&rsquo\;&iacute\; property. Each year Bah&aacute\;&rsquo\;&iacute\;
 s gather on the last Saturday of June to commemorate this day and have a
  unity picnic.\nAll are welcome to attend. The Bah&aacute\;&rsquo\;&iacu
 te\; properties are located at 126 Evergreen Place in Teaneck. From noon
  until sunset\, the five-acre grounds are open for picnic activities. A 
 formal program is held from 3PM until 4PM that will include several live
  musicians. This year&rsquo\;s keynote speaker is Kathryn Jewett Hogenso
 n and her topic is &ldquo\;Lighting the Western Sky: The Hearst Pilgrima
 ge and the Establishment of the Bah&aacute\;&rsquo\;&iacute\; Faith in t
