ABOUT MIKAYLA BRITE: Let me introduce you to a girl who likes to sing. Actually, this girl is so into music that as a little kid, she didn’t want to sing anyone else’s songs because she would either ruin the song or show up the singer. With that in mind, she started writing her own songs. By age 12, she was writing them down at recess and everyone would crowd around her once in a while to take turns reading her new lyrics. After much encouragement from her classmates and family, Brite started being less and less shy about performing. At age 15 she sang for a full Mexicali Live in Teaneck, New Jersey; and as soon as she walked off stage to sit with her family in the back of the room, she was stopped by numerous audience members who seemed to have her more in mind than the next act.

Mikayla Brite’s current favorite things are clothes, singing and dancing. Now if that doesn’t make a performer, what does?! Her ultimate hope is to one day make an “O.S.P.” song popular again. O.S.P. is her word for the “old-school pop” of the late 90s and early 2000s. Being a fan of that time period, she does her best to write songs that are fun, catchy and sophisticated. She wants to be remembered for her music, she says, and not her uniqueness or how she looked.

Miss Brite is now appearing locally at coffee shops and open mics.

ABOUT TEANECK GENERAL STORE: Teaneck General Store is a cafe and gift shop focusing on local handmade fair trade and environmentally-friendly goods.
