Teaneck Sandy Hook Vigil Moved

UPDATE: The Sandy Hook vigil scheduled for Saturday night has been moved to St. Mark's Church, 118 Chadwick Road, Teaneck, due to snow. The vigil will begin at 5:30 p.m.



The Bergen County Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence will mark the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook School shooting massacre with a vigil at the Teaneck Municipal Green and nearby streets, the group announced.


Speakers at the vigil will includestate Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and Rabbi Steven Sirbu of Temple Emeth in Teaneck, organizers said. Attendees are asked to bring flashlights instead of candles for use at the vigil.


The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, one year after 20 children and six school staffers were gunned down at the Connecticut school.

The grassroots Bergen County Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence has been pushing elected officials to pursue new gun regulationsand held anti-gun violence vigils around the area.
