Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation, located at 302 2nd St. Cliffside Park, will have a number of cats and dogs that are up for adoption.  BCP&R is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal rescue shelter who supports, Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Fort Lee, Teaneck, Bogota, Fairview, Palisades Park, Elmwood Park, Englewood Cliffs and the GWB PA of NY/NJ. In addition, the group pulls animals from high kill shelters when room is available. Its mission is to save as many lives as possible without being euthanized, due to lack of a home, space or compassion.  It also works to educate the public on humane education, humane enforcement, spay/neuter, and micro-chipping procedures.

In addition at the event, BCP&R will offer micro-chipping through HomeAgain Microchips for dogs and cats. Cost is $25 (regular price is $39.99). HomeAgain maintains a national database, which is available 24/7.  HomeAgain is responsible for reuniting over 329,00 lost pets with their owners.

Collars and tags are essential at all times, however, they tend to fall off. Millions of dogs are lost each year because of this. According to statistics, 90% of lost pets that are not micro-chipped are turned into shelters. Most are euthanized because lack of room.

A micro-chip is about the size of a grain of rice that is injected between the dog’s shoulder blades that holds a computer chip.  Once in place, the micro-chip can be detected with a handheld device that can connect the pet back to the owner.  Approximately 8,000 pets a year are returned to their owners because of micro-chipping.

Please help, come, adopt and show your support for this special Pet Appreciation Event and help support local businesses.    Together we can all make a difference in the lives of homeless animals.
