8th Grader Exhibits Artwork at Englewood Gallery

One River Gallery is featuring the work of Milagros Ortiz, among other young artists in their current exhibit.

A Hackensack 8th grader is having her artwork featured at an Englewood gallery.

Milagros Ortiz, a student at Hackensack Middle School, is being presented at One River Gallery’s annual Winter Student Art Show, which runs through Saturday, Jan. 11 at 49 North Dean Street.

The exhibit features paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces that were created by students who are taking classes at One River Gallery’s associated school, One River School of Art and Design in Englewood.

Milagros is a student in One River’s Teen Art Shuffle program. “There’s a feeling of magic in watching Milagros work:  when she gets an idea, she is in a zone of pure creativity where thoughts can’t interfere with her art, and the outcome is incredible,” said Matt Ross, founder of One River.

Other works presented in One River’s Winter Student Art Show include self-portraits by first graders, ink paintings on found book pages by seventh graders, film noir oil paintings by teens, striking portraits and photography from adults, and more.

Sample works are posted on One River’s website.  For more information, contact One River at 201-266-5244 or email info@oneriverschool.com.
