Press Release: New Photo ID System for Votee Park Pool

New photo system will require anyone renewing or buying pool ID to have digital photo taken.

The following press release was submitted by the Teaneck Recreation Department:

The Township of Teaneck is excited to announce a new state-of-the art photo ID badge management system for Votee Park pool has been installed and our new ID system will be in use beginning this summer.

The new photo ID badge management system will require ALL individuals who are purchasing or renewingVotee Park pool IDs to have a digital photo taken at the Administrative Office of the Recreation Department. The new IDs will have bar codes for validation. The badge check booth at Votee Park will be equipped with bar code readers to assist the Department in tracking attendance as well as to insure that only residents with current photo id badges are using our pool facilities.

The fee for a Votee pool photo ID badge will remain the same; that is, $25 for adults (18 years and up) and $15 for students (5 to 17). Residents in possession of photo ID badges from the previous season receive a $5 discount when they bring their old badge in along with current proof of residence for renewal. A replacement for a lost, stolen or damaged badge requires payment of the renewal fee. Please note: the new photo ID badges are not waterproof and should not be worn in the pool.

In addition to processing the new photo IDs for Votee Park pool, the Department will also be issuing Hawthorne pool swim tags and tennis badges for the 2011 season. The fee for a Hawthorne pool swim tag is $10. A replacement for a lost, stolen or damaged tag requires full payment of the original fee.

To use the municipal pools, residents must bring proof of residence for each family member ages 5 years and up when applying for photo id badges and tags. The same procedure is applicable for renewals. A driver’s license with a Teaneck address, a current utility bill, tax bill or lease or mortgage are acceptable proof of residence for adults. For students 5 to 17 years a copy of the child’s birth certificate or current school report along with the parent or guardian’s proof of residence is required. When applying for new photo ID badges, all individuals for whom badges are being requested must be present before badges can be issued.

We realize it will be a large task to take new photos and issue new cards to every pool badge holder and we are requesting that residents assist us in by coming to the Recreation Department's Administrative Office in the Richard Rodda Community Center, 250 Colonial Court (south end of Votee Park) offices beginning Monday, June 6th to purchase or renew pool badges. Our current office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Beginning Tuesday, June 7th through Tuesday, July 26th our office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Hawthorne pool will be open seven days a week from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. through the summer months. In addition, Hawthorne will reopen from 7:00 p.m. to dusk on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Votee Pool will be open from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week with four adult-only swimming periods every day from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A limited number of guest passes are available for the in-ground pool at Votee Park. The fee is $10 per pass and will be available to current season adult photo ID badge holders. These passes are available on a first come, first served basis.

Residents wishing to use the Township’s tennis courts may purchase tennis badges. The fee for adult tennis badges is $25 and the fee for students 8 to 17 years of age is $15. Proof of residence is also required when purchasing tennis badges.
