Teaneck Residents Could Be Without Power Until Early Friday, PSE&G Says

More than 2,000 Public Service Electric and Gas Customers lost power in Teaneck, the second widespread outage to impact the town Thursday.

Electricity would likely be fully restored to all Teaneck customers by around 2 a.m. Friday, a company spokesman told Patch late Thursday night. About 2,500 customers lost service, although some areas were being restored as crews completed repairs at a substation serving the town.

The outage was traced to a problem with circuits at a substation, but details were not immediately known, the spokesman said.

Earlier on Thursday afternoon, 2,200 customers lost power for about three hours in Teaneck when a car smashed into a utility pole, the company said. The two widespread outages were not believed to be related.

PSE&G could not immediately say which substation experienced the problem. The company is working to upgrade power stations on Palisade Avenue and near the Teaneck Armory in an effort to improve reliability.
