Teaneck Rotary to Host Flapjack Breakfast

Proceeds go to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, group says.

The following was submitted by the Teaneck Rotary:

The Teaneck Rotary will sponsor a Flapjack Breakfast at Applebee’s Restaurant in Hackensack on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 8:00-10:00 a.m.  More than just a stack of flapjacks, the complete breakfast will include Applebee’s fabulous pancakes plus scrambled eggs, sausage, and a selection of beverages. Tickets are only $10.00 and proceeds will be used for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).

Rotary president Gloria Andrade stated that this flapjack event represents the partnering of local businesses with philanthropic organizations to achieve the common goal of doing good for the community.  “This joint venture between the Teaneck Rotary and Applebee’s is an outstanding example of how we can work together to accomplish great things.” Andrade said.  “We are excited about this project and are impressed at the community mindedness of Applebee’s management.  It’s wonderful to see joint projects like this that go so far in helping the various populations we assist.  Add to this the fact that a Flapjack Breakfast is a perfect family-oriented event, and we are certain to have a great success!”

Proceeds going to RYLA will help to send Teaneck High School junior-year students to a week-long leadership program at the prestigious Indian Head Camp in Honesdale, PA.  This year the Teaneck Chapter of Rotary sent four young people to this life changing program, and the goal for next spring is to send at least the same number.

Applebee’s is located at 450 Hackensack Avenue, near Home Depot in Hackensack.  For more information about the Flapjack Breakfast or to purchase tickets, please call Kathy Frost at 201-836-7474, extension 214.
