Food Trucks to Converge on Overpeck Park

More than 18 speciality food trucks are planned at the upcoming food truck “mash-up” set for later this month, according to Bergen County foodie blog BoozyBurbs.com.

The event, sponsored by Holy Name Medical Center, will also include live music, sunset yoga and other entertainment. Acts will include the School of Rock and rising star Heather Brave, a Dwight Englewood student.

The festivities will be held July 31 from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Overpeck Park amphitheater in Ridgefield Park. An August 1 rain date is also planned.

More information is available at the festival’s website.

I arrived at the park around 8 pm to the grumbling of "food trucks sold out". I continued to the food trucks and noted many were already closed or the lines were over a 100 people long. Suggestion: sign up more food trucks; hard to believe there were 18 of them. Or don't advertise it is open until 10 pm. There need to be a better balance of food supply to hungry people. I don't mind lines but the lines last night were too extreme to wait on. On a positive note this was a great idea and would like to see it done again but with better planning based on the learned experience from last night.

What a traffic nightmare! The closing of the tunnel because of a rock spill on the helix may have contributed to the traffic as it was directed northward toward the GWB, but with a disastrous traffic plan brought to you by your not-so-friendly county police, who single-laned roads, contributed to the less than two mile trip from my home to the entrance on Degraw to take 90 minutes with no way out! Discovering the entrance closed and all reasonable parking nearby gone it took nearly another 60 minutes to navigate home. Absurd on every level!
