Teaneck Fugitive Owes $15K in Child Support, Sheriff’s Office Says

Man allegedly fled as officers were trying to arrest him Monday

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 35-year-old Teaneck man who fled sheriff’s officers trying to arrest him Monday in Teaneck, officials said.

Andre Akridge is wanted for a probation violation and owes $15,700 in child support, according to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

“These are crimes directly affecting the children of Bergen County,” said Sheriff Michael Saudino. “It is our duty to ensure that they are cared for properly.”

Akridge ran when sheriff’s officers went looking for him at a home on Westervelt Place around 11:15 a.m., authorities said. Police initially searched a nearby home, but Akridge managed to flee.

He is described as being 6-foot 4-inches tall and weighs 170-pounds.
