Bank Donates $5,000 to FDU Veterans Program

University program helps military veterans develop business skills.

The Provident Bank Foundation has donated $5,000 in support of a Fairleigh Dickinson University program that helps veterans learn skills needed to launch a small business or nonprofit organization.

“This is a wonderful program that puts veterans in a position to own their own business or purchase a franchise,” Marilyn Gross, associate director of corporate and foundation relations, said in a news release. “We are extremely grateful for this donation from The Provident Bank Foundation, which will help continue this important program at no cost to veterans.”

The 10-week "Veterans Launching Ventures" program, administered by the University's Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship, mixes in-class instruction with online education and ends with a workshop where experts help students refine their business plans.

“The ‘Veterans Launching Ventures’ program is a wonderful way to help talented veterans cultivate the skills necessary to succeed in business,” Jane Kurek, executive director of The Provident Bank Foundation, said in the release. “We are delighted to support this exceptional program and support our veterans who have selflessly served our country.”

After finishing the FDU program, veterans have access to guidance from mentors for 10 months.
