Chamber of Commerce to Host Community Awards Dinner

Event will take place Oct. 27 at Glenpointe.

The Teaneck Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 10th Annual Community Awards Dinner at the Marriott – Glenpointe (Teaneck).

The Community Service Awards Dinner is a celebration saluting members of our community or those that have served our community that have either participated individually or as a part of an organization or as a community. This year’s honorees and their respective awards are as follows:

Public Service: PO John Abraham -  posthumous (Teaneck Police Department), Lt. Edward Saraceno (Teaneck Fire Department), Fran Wilson (Department of Public Works) and Sam Levi (Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps.);Korean Community of Teaneck - Community Achievement Award; Lois Bono & Carol Otis - Educators of the Year ;Teaneck Youth Advisory Board - Youth Achievement Award;  William “Pat” Schuber - Lifetime Achievement Award; Nancy Ellson - Woman of the Year; Kismet Limousine - Business of the Year and Anthony Laciura - Cultural Arts

Beginning at 5:30pm there will be an opportunity for all attendees to meet local businesses and organizations, some will have display tables, greet, exchange business cards, gain valuable information, network and schmooze. The evening continues with a cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres, assorted soft drinks, open bar, and light music by Dave Ellson followed by a sit down dinner and the Community Awards Dinner program. Tickets for the event are $75 per person in advance and $65 for students. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Yolanda Andrews, Classic Residence.

As was done last year and in preparation of the Holiday Season, donations of food items will be accepted at this event by Teaneck’s own Helping Hands Food Pantry. Acceptable items include: Cereal/Oatmeal/Pancake Mix, Parmalat/Powdered Milk, Fruit Juice, Canned Fish/Meat, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Canned Soup/Stew, Canned Vegetables, Rice, Canned Fruit and Pasta & Sauce.

Some of the organizations that will have display tables are: Teaneck Youth Advisory Board, Teaneck International Film Festival, Helping Hands Food Pantry, Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Rotary Club of Teaneck.

New this year, the Teaneck Chamber of Commerce has undertaken an initial goal of raising $10,000.00 toward the America's Future Scholarship Fund. With cutbacks in education, the Teaneck Chamber strongly believes that the future is with our youth and particularly with Teaneck youth. Taking advantage of the resources we have available, the scholarship will be setup for Teaneck residents; graduate students who will be pursuing an education in community service related degree programs at Fairleigh Dickinson University-Teaneck Campus.

Also new this year for sports enthusiasts and collectors, the Teaneck Chamber of Commerce has invited Grandstand Sports. As seen on CNBC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and Channel 11, Grandstand Sports is nationally as well as internationally known and will have tables of unique sports themed memorabilia.
