From Texas to Teaneck, Cedar Lane Pizzeria Boasts Loyal Fan Base

Community important to local pizzeria, staff says.

There seems to be a general consensus at the 32-seat on Cedar Lane.

Even though there is a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, pasta, ravioli, entrees, as well as calzones, stromboli, soups and salads, the name of the game here is pizza, customers say. With 27 varieties, customers have choices when ordering a slice.

“Everybody who comes here likes everything,” Manager Joe Geges said with a smile when asked what the Victor’s top seller is.

Perhaps the Teaneck resident of more than 9 years is less than impartial, but customers on one visit were quick to show their pizza loyalty.

“When I’m in town, I always come to Victor’s for a slice.” said Caroline Ries, a former Teaneck resident now living in Texas with her husband. Both were doing just that when interviewed, enjoying pizza as they say only Victor’s could make it.

And so was David Tider, an attorney who has lived in Teaneck for 32 years. He visits once or twice a week, he said over two plain slices of pizza. “I like the pizza here,” he said between bites.

Dod Geges, Joe’s brother, has owned Victor’s since 1998, a busy place with plenty of seating and nearby free parking. In addition to enjoying your food on-site, there’s also take out and free delivery, and catering options. Pasta dishes include spaghetti, ziti, and lasagna with sides, which cost from $6.50 to $13.95. Ravioli dishes are priced in the $8.50 to $11.25 range, and entrees of all varieties vary from $12.75 to $17.00. All sandwiches are in the $6.00 to $8.00 range, and pizza offerings come in both small and large sizes.

“We do a lot of support for the schools,” said Joe Geges, while showing off wall photos of local sports teams that Victor’s supports and has supported in town. “We do a lot for the community. We even had a family who had an unexpected death in their family. We supplied them with food.”

Caroline Ries, the former resident, said she misses the Cedar Lane pizza spot, and husband John agreed there's nothing like it available in Texas.

“They have New York style pizza, but whenever you come here and take a bite, you know what they have in Texas is not here.”

"That’s right,” added Caroline. “It’s not Victor’s.”
