Kosher Mexican Restaurant Coming to Teaneck

Grand opening in the works at new West Englewood-area eatery

Teaneck’s West Englewood area will soon be home to a kosher Mexican restaurant called Burrito’lam, adding to the host of kosher options in the neighborhood.

No exact opening date was made public for Burrito’lam, but the restaurant’s Facebook page announced a grand opening was planned and the eatery would be offering “Glatt Kosher authentic Mexican food.”

Burrito’lam is opening at Queen Anne Road and West Englewood Avenue in the space briefly occupied by Appetizer Factory. The storefront was previously a wine store.

The new Mexican restaurant’s name is a play on words from the Hebrew “Brit Olam” and means “burrito world,” notes food blog YeahThatsKosher.com.

Burrito’lam’s owners could not be immediately reached for comment Thursday night.

Burrito’lam’s menu, posted online, includes variations of the normal Mexican fare ranging from burritos to fajitas, but all kosher.

The restaurant is opening in a section of town now home to a range of kosher eateries including the acclaimed Etc. Steakhouse and Gotham Burger, which recently expanded to New York City.
