Persian Eatery Planned on Teaneck Road

New restaurant to replace Honey, according to report.

A Persian restaurant is slated to open at the former location of Honey on Teaneck Road, according to food blog boozyburbs.com.

It was not immediately clear when the new Rose Restaurant would open at 1150 Teaneck Road. Honey Mediterranean Gourmet & Market closed last year.

Persian Restaurants are usually great! There's one in Edgewater that I think did very well & the food was yummy. Also there's a middle eastern restaurant in Englewood that used to be connected to Rosie's on Rt.4/Bway, and both are excellent. Welcome to Teaneck Rd, Teaneck!

Honey's was excellent, delicious Persian food, nice people. And.... Enthusiastically reviewed by the New York Times! But apparently it couldn't stay open. Why will another Persian restaurant succeed? Two or more years ago, Lillian Lewis and I tried to encourage the town to invest in some marketing and publicity about North Teaneck Road being an International Marketplace... Which really was then. But no one heeded anything we said. I wish the new Persian Restaurant well... And I wish Teaneck leaders and residents would recognize the charms we have before they close ( when we then say how great they were).

Barbara you make an excellent point in your comment. I read all these PATCH articles about various stores closing and everyone is sad to see them go. Well thats nice but where were these "loyal" fans all along? You are also correct about very poor marketing on behalf of Teaneck. LEts be honest-- Teaneck has a very bad image in Bergen County for various reasons. These closings do not help. Teaneck is not a "destination" shopping area. Englewood and Ridgewood are such places. Teaneck Road is a prime real estate area yet appears very run down. That is unfortunate. Cedar Lane is also looking very shabby and run down. It is very hard to walk on Teaneck Road too. TOo many nail salons and hair cutting places at this point. I too read the Honey review in NYT but it was not enough. Nobody wants to travel to Teaneck. Why is this??? Lack of marketing? Run down appearances?

Yes because nothing says sound business plan like opening up the exact type of restaurant that just closed and doing it at the same location. If a McDonalds fails at one location does it make sense to open up another one right away at the same location?
