Politics, Scandal Coming to Cedar Lane Coffee Bar

New exhibition from Teaneck resident coming to BLAST.

will host a collection of prints from the collection of Teaneck resident Gary Ostroff.

An opening reception will be held Sept. 8 from 8 to 10 p.m. The free exhibition will run from Sept. 8 to Oct. 1.

BLAST’s Scott Harris offers the following details:

Ostroff has lived in Teaneck for eighteen years, and has always been interested in art, history, and prints of all kinds, but never collected.  His interest in British satirical prints, and his decision to acquire some of them came when he saw the large show of James Gillray’s prints at the New York Public Library in 2004. He loves the combination of wit, political critique, artistic accomplishment, and sheer vulgarity displayed by these images. The prints in this show highlight the golden age of English caricature, extending from the late 1770s to the early nineteenth century, which lampooned all the key political figures of the time, transforming caricature into high art.
