Eating out and catering both great options

“Are you ready for some football”  – and great food?

Let’s face it. On Super Bowl Sunday, you can’t have one and not the other.

Therefore, welcome to our tour of spots where you can enjoy all of the above, without leaving town.

“The longest running Super Bowl party in Teaneck – absolutely,” claims Vinny O’sowner Vinny Ottina. “And probably in Bergen County.”

Ottina can’t vouch for the accuracy of the last statement, but he can for his Teaneck one. Vinny O’s has nine big screen televisions to enjoy the game, and a hot and cold buffet to feast on while the Packers and Steelers bang heads. Entry is free before 4pm, and there is a $5.00 cover charge after. Throughout the afternoon and evening, there will be door raffles, football pools, and two 6 foot heroes will be served to attendees at halftime.

Partying at home? Individual trays and heroes are available as well, in addition to the traditional Vinny O’s Sports Packages, available for $10.95 or $15.95 per person.

“Food like chicken and other finger food,” says G&G Liquors & Bar manager Brad Kim when asked about the festivities at his location. “We’ve been doing it for a long time for every Super Bowl.”

And the fact that either the Giants and Jets aren’t playing less celebration – maybe. “When a local team plays there’s more celebration. But we have more Steelers fans than Packers fans, and they’ll come down and celebrate. Lots of people will enjoy coming to G&G and enjoy the Super Bowl with other people.”

Cottage Bar & Restaurant

No stranger to celebrations and special occasion events -- especially on pro football's biggest day of the year -- Cottage Bar & Restaurant will certainly be serving the "Best Pint of Guinness in Bergen County", but will also be hosting a free half time buffet featuring a variety of wings, pastas, and a traditional favorite, Shepherd’s Pie.

Not to be outdone is Dougie's Bar & Grill, whose catering offerings for their Super Bowl Party menu starts with the Kickoff Special menu for 10 people at $139.00 featuring a three foot hero, 100 wings and cole slaw, and ascends to the Half Time Special for 60 people at $949.99 which includes chips and salsa, four 3 foot heroes, 250 wings, chicken nuggets and steak fries, 10 orders of Dougie’s B-B-Q ribs, four blooming onions, chili, sweet potato chips, and cole slaw. The entire menu can be found here: http://www.dougiesbbq.com/2011_SuperBowl_OL.pdf

On a smaller scale, recommended is Mabat Steak House where, according to owner Yoram Levi, “We’ll have a variety of chicken wings in addition to our regular menu.”
