Teaneck Company Partners with MIT

Three-year agreement will look at how technology impacts the communications, information, media and entertainment industries.

Glenpointe-based technology firm said Tuesday it will enter a three-year agreement to work with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Digital Business to study how technology impacts industry.

Research will focus on the communications, information, media and entertainment industries, the company said in a news release.

“Our work with MIT will help our CIME clients understand the emerging social workplace by providing frameworks and insights to address these new competitive challenges," said Cognizant CEO Francisco D'Souza in the release.

Researchers on the project include, Andrew McAfee, principal research scientist and author of Enterprise 2.0, Erik Brynjolfsson, director of the MIT Center for Digital Business, and research scientist George Westerman.

"Business leaders in the CIME industries have faced tremendous uncertainty in the face of industry-shaping technologies and have been lacking a playbook to guide their strategies,” said McAfee. “This program will conduct comprehensive research on the transformative effects of social networks, virtualization, collaboration, and other technologies in the CIME industries, enabling them to more effectively produce their products, serve their customers, and compete with other companies."
