Teaneck Farmers’ Market Opens

Special guest to appear in July at Teaneck market

The following announcement was submitted by the Teaneck Farmers' Market:

We’re now opened at The Teaneck Farmers’ Market. It’s going to be a great new season! Sponsored by The Cedar Lane Management Group. Mark your calendars for from now, to October 24th, from noon to 6 p.m., except for Thursday, July 4th, and weather permitting storm-less days. The Market is still located at the municipal parking lot, in back of the Wells Fargo Bank at Garrison Avenue and Beverly Road.

Also tune into WFDU's FM 89.1 radio station for weekly announcements of the markets activities throughout our season.

To all the customers who love Hoboken Farms, they're returning again this season! You’ll find their delicious food selections of artisan breads, frozen proportioned packaged poultry, meats, seafood, raviolis, marinara sauce and freshly made mozzarella cheese.

Our market wouldn’t be without our farmers who have been our great anchor farmers from New Jersey and PA, Sunden’s Stone Pointe Farms and Stoltzfus Produce. Richard Sunden brings a full stock of his back yard, otherwise known as the farm to our market. From vegetables, and fruits, flowers, plants, and herbs. Stoltzfus Produce brings his richly grown produce from his farm, but will start with on June 13th.  They're at either end of our market line-up, so you can select from one or both.

The variety of gourmet foods, both original recipes and gluten-free entrees are from Paolo's Kitchen. Nana's Home Kitchen will also help you fix or add to your quick meal plans. They grill chicken and beef kebobs at our market, and falafels too. Nana also makes wonderful baked goods as well, including their spinach pies. Other items from their menu can be ordered in advance for the market day. Both bring some perfectly delicious choices to make your family have a satisfying meal, when time is short to make your own.

Who can forget Teaneck’s own Pickle-licious?  At our market they bring all sorts of pickles, mixtures of olives, and more. It’s great to see little kids eat a pickle on a stick, and for the more gourmet customer, buy their savory mixtures that Pickle-licious always has on hand.

Our Market has Gourmet Nuts and Dried Fruits, who have a wonderful array of salted, raw or roasted nuts, trail mixes, and wonderful dried fruits, with a fabulous dried strawberry that is divine. They’ll let you sample an item to see if you’ll like it as well!

Our Amish Country Bakers will be coming back too. With lots of your favorite cookies, cakes, pies, whoopee pies, breads, and jams, relishes and more! They'll be at the market, starting on June 13th. But Angela Logan's Mortgage Apple Cakes will start on opening day with her marvelous apple cake creations.

You told us you wanted a vendor who sold beverages, so we went to the best: the rage of the NJ markets and festivals -- Lizzmonade. They squeeze fresh drinks on the spot. Talk to them about an event that you might have.

Joining us this season is Daniel Senter of Teaneck Bees.  He will bring honey and other bee products from one hive here in Teaneck and others in upstate NY.  Daniel can advise you all about the world and life of our endangered bee population.

And mark your calendars. We’ve arranged for a special guest appearance of WNBC’s Saturday Today’s News, Pete Napolitano, otherwise known as “Produce Pete” to coming to our market on July 11th. He’ll be coming at 1 PM. Also that same day, The Bergen County Senior Farm Nutritional Program for seniors can sign-up for their vouchers. You must be a Teaneck or other Bergen County residents, to qualify for these discounts. It’s scheduled from Noon to 3 PM only. You can download applications on our website or copies will be available at the market table before the scheduled date. For more information, call 201-336-7400.

Most of our vendors and farmers are on-line, so you can find out more information by logging onto their sites. You can order from their if you can’t be at our market.

We'll see you soon from now, at noon to 6 p.m. at the Teaneck Farmers' Market, located at the Garrison Avenue and Beverly Road, parking lot. There’s plenty of free parking in our Cedar Lane district. And don’t forget to see what Cedar Lane has to offer. We plan to offer complimentary blue shopping bags again, so come by our community table for one, or our vendors will gladly hand you one, after your purchase. We hope to have them for each market day.
