New York Dolls Guitarist Earl Slick Proves Today’s Music is Grounded in Blues by Playing with Tomorrow’s Rock Stars

Earl Slick, legendary guitarist who built his musical career playing for such notable and varied talents including David Bowie, John Lennon and Carl Perkins, and been in bands with drummers like The Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom and Blondie’s Clem Burke, will be holding a concert and music insider Q&A withSchool of Rock Chatham and Tenafly students. The 60-year-old Brooklyn born musician joins the School of Rock family for the second time to jam out with students who spent 4 weeks rehearsing the set list which consists of approximately 20 songs including popular titles such as Chuck Berry’s “Bye Bye Johnny,” The Rolling Stones classic “Jumping Jack Flash,” many Bowie favorites including “Golden Years” and “Rebel, Rebel,” and Social Distortion’s cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” Through School of Rock’s “Guest Professor Series,” students have the opportunity to learn from and jam with some of music’s most iconic names.

By inspiring the world to rock on stage and in life, School of Rock transforms the lives of kids and adults through music. As the leader in performance-based music education, it is an ingenious concept that gets kids and adults rocking out to the classics and on stage performing with their peers. Genres of music studied include Rock, Reggae, Motown, Blues, Pop, Metal, and more. The schools offer individual lessons, performance classes, summer camps and workshops.
