Blue Laws, Prostitution Case Against Ex-Professor in Top Teaneck News

The leader of a retail group expects Bergen County will get rid of its "blue laws" prohibiting the sale of certain items on Sundays, according to a report on NJ.com.

John Holub, the president of the New Jersey Retail Merchants Association, said he believes there is more support to repeal the blue laws now than there was the last time voters considered the issue in 1993, according to the report.

Report: Palisades Park Official Eyes Englewood Assemblywoman's Seat

Palisades Park Deputy Mayor Jason Kim is seeking to unseat Englewood Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, politickernj.com reports.

Faced with Kim's challenge, District 37 incumbents Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Vainieri Huttle announced they would run together, the report said. 

Prostitution Case Against Ex-FDU Professor Hits Snag

The New Mexico State Supreme Court has denied a request by prosecutors to overturn a lower court decision that a prostitution website allegedly run by an ex-Fairleigh Dickinson University was not illegal, the Associated Press reported Wednesday. 

A judge had ruled that the website, called "Southwest Companions," broke no laws.Albuquerque police in 2011 charged retired Metro Campus physics professor David Floryand former University of New Mexico president F. Chris Garcia with running the site, which authorities say linked johns with prostitutes. Investigators told Patch the site was operated as a "hobby" and not for profit.
