A former teacher at a Paramus Yeshiva who worked with youth in Teaneck has pleaded guilty to child pornography and exploitation charges, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.

The ex-Yeshivat Noam teacher, 27-year-old Evan Zauder, used the Internet to entice a 14 to 15-year old in New Jersey to engage in sexual activity two times between April and November of 2011, prosecutors said. Between December 2010 and May 2011, he also amassed a collection of hundreds of videos and pictures showing child pornography stored on four devices seized during an FBI search of his Manhattan apartment in May.

Teaneck emergency responders rescued a 42-year-old woman who tumbled down an embankment while she walked along Route 4 early Saturday, officials said.

The woman reportedly ran out of gas and called a friend for help, police said. The two walked to get gas at a station nearby in Hackensack, but when the friend got back he noticed the woman was no longer with him.

Town May Add Staff for Records Requests

Teaneck may be forced to add staff to deal with what officials said is a flood of public records requests that must be processed by the town clerk's office.

Township Clerk Jaime Evelina said her office alone receives 10 to 20 requests a day under the state's Open Public Records Act. That number, she said, does not include requests made to other departments.

New Arts Cafe to Open on Cedar Lane

A new cafe featuring live music, poetry and art space will open early next month at the former BLAST location on Cedar Lane.

The new cafe, Phoebe's Place, is named for the late chart-topping musician Phoebe Snow, who grew up in Teaneck, according to the owner's announcement made Wednesday. The cafe will host a range of artists and musicians while serving light and healthy fare.
