Kidnapping Charge, Factory Blaze, Theater Closes in Top Teaneck News

A Paterson man carjacked his ex-girlfriend Saturday and drove her to a Hackensack mall where he was captured by Teaneck police with the help of an off-duty state trooper, authorities said Monday.

Three burglars were arrested after Teaneck officers followed a trail of footprints from the scene of a break-in to a nearby home where two of the thieves were found, township police said Tuesday.

Scores of firefighters battled a smoky three-alarm blaze at a former Teaneck soap factory sparked as a work crew was inside the complex Monday afternoon, officials said.

Emergency crews were called around 3 p.m. and had the flames under control in about 40 minutes, Teaneck Fire Chief Anthony Verley said at the scene. There were no reports of any injuries.
