Mary Pat Christie to Speak in Fort Lee After Girl Scouts' GWB Crossing

First Lady of New Jersey will be part of "bridging" event Sunday featuring thousands of Girl Scouts crossing the GWB, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting, organizers say.

FORT LEE -- New Jersey’s First Lady will speak in Fort Lee Sunday at an historic event marking the 100th anniversary celebration of Girl Scouting, the Girl Scout Councils of New Jersey announced.

Mary Pat Christie will speak after the Girl Scouts’ ceremonial “bridging” event, during which thousands of girls, parents and others will walk across the George Washington Bridge, organizers said.

Last week, the Port Authority lit the “necklace lights” on the George Washington Bridge green in honor of the Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary; the green lights will continue nightly throughout the month of November, according to the Port Authority. And on Sunday, the Hudson River near the bridge will be dyed green, the Girl Scout Councils of New Jerseys say.
