Book Signing: Cool Boys Read

Filled with sci-fi adventures, dangerous missions, and personal reflections, the sixth Cool Boys Read® book focuses on the 2013 program theme: "Explore! Discover! Create!" and features the writing of 24 young authors, ages 6 to 13.

The mission of Cool Boys Read, Inc. (CBR) is to promote reading, writing, and academic excellence among children, particularly African American and Latino boys. Founded in 2007 by Susan Herriott and her son Khari, the organization was incorporated as a nonprofit in the state of New Jersey in 2011. Every summer, members participate in reading challenges or contests; engage in fun, educational activities and field trips; and write a book. In 2011, one of the organization's groups wrote and produced a short film with an original soundtrack. In 2009, one of the founding members' work was published in a special issue of the Harvard Educational Review.
