Community Corner

One Book, One Community Author Event

Meet Mitchell James Kaplan, author of By Fire, By Water, when he talks about this year's One Book, One Community selection. Kaplan's powerful novel is set in turbulent 15th century Spain. Focusing on the story of Luis de Santangel, chancellor to the king of Aragon and a converso (a Jew whose family was forced to convert to Christianity), the novel combines a passionate love story with a religious mystery, as it explores the crises of faith and politics at the heart of the Inquisition.

Following his presentation and questions and answer session, and the announcement of our 2014-15 book selection, join us for a dessert reception.

Free but reservations are required. Register online at jfnnj.org/onebook or contact Nancy Perlman, nancyp@jfnnj.org/or 201-820-3904.

One Book, One Community is a project of the Synagogue Leadership Initiative, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey and the Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation.
